Bible Project
A project I’ve been thinking about for quite some time is producing a nice reader’s edition of the Bible (removing all chapter and vers numbers) that follows the canonical order of the Bible.
- Using the King James Version for the main text
- Referencing the New King James Version for paragraph breaks
- Referencing the Christian Standard Bible for passages considered poetry
- Referencing the Christian Standard Bible for poetry line breaks and indentation
When I say “canonical order” as it relates to the “Old Testament,” I’m referring to the division of the Law, the Prophets, and the Writings—including re-combining the books that were split up in our English translations (Samuel and Kings, Chronicles, and “the Twelve” minor prophets).

When I say “canonical order” as it relates to the “New Testament,” I’m referring to the order set out after much research by Ernest L. Martin in Restoring the Original Bible and, building on Martin’s work (as well as more theologically orthodox), Phillip G. Kayser in The Canon of Scripture.
